If you’re traveling alone, there are plenty of hotels and transient lodging available in Boracay. It’s just a matter of searching for the right one on the Internet. After all, you’ll only have to worry about yourself.

For families or barkadas, on the other hand, you need to think a little bit bigger to accommodate everyone’s needs. Luckily, there’s Alta Vista de Boracay that can address all that.

The rooms range from as low as Php3,800 to Php4,800 a night, depending on the season. Not bad for a luxury hotel, right?

How to get there

There are many options on how to go to Boracay. If you’re in no hurry, would love to see the sights, and have the budget, you might want to drive all the way there. From Magallanes, Makati City, it would take around 12 hours to travel 433 km to Boracay, via a long drive to Batangas Port and a roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ferry ride. In exchange for the long trip, you can pass by several tourist spots such as Enchanted Kingdom in Santa Rosa, Laguna, the many hot springs in Los Baños, and Puerto Galera before reaching Boracay.

But let’s be practical, you can book a flight to either Kalibo or Caticlan Airport. Kalibo flights are a little bit more affordable than Caticlan, but you’ll have to endure a 2-hour van ride to Boracay proper. Landing in Caticlan will let you reach Boracay in just 30 minutes.

Prices of flights may vary depending on time, date, season, and airline you’ll be booking your flight in. You could wait for a seat sale to save money or book way ahead of your trip and choose a flight in the wee hours of the night or early morning.

Upon arrival in Kalibo, you’ll have to ride a van or taxi to the port. The van ride will save you a lot as it costs just Php250, but you’ll have to squeeze in as leg and shoulder room is tight. If you wish to have a more comfortable experience, you can opt for a taxi, but it can set you back Php1,000. It could be worth it if you’re with 2 or 3 more friends.

As for those coming from Caticlan, you can ride the tricycle to the port, which could take just 10 minutes and cost you Php50.

From there, you will have to go on a boat ride, depending on how high the waves are. If the rates are the same as before, you’ll only have to pay Php200, inclusive of the boat ticket, and the terminal and environmental fees.

Upon arriving in Boracay, you can choose to ride privately or join others. The former will cost Php100, while the latter will only cost Php20 to go to your hotel.

Day 1: Time to splash

Assuming that you have checked in already, there’s only one thing to do now – go to the nearest beach! Those who’ve chosen to stay in Alta Vista de Boracay can easily request the front desk to help you get to Puka Beach, which could be a short 20-minute tricycle ride.

Alternatively, there are other more areas to explore but do expect that it could get busy with all the foot traffic in the area.

If you prefer to rest up first after all that traveling, Alta Vista de Boracay reviews say that this hotel is one of the most peaceful ones in Boracay. You can also take a quick dip in their pool or get a massage before heading out to the busy beach.

Day 2: Go for an adventure

Boracay has plenty of activities for both adrenaline junkies and adventure seekers. You can go island hopping. Rates can vary from as low as Php1,000 to Php3,500, depending on the boat size and season. You can ask the hotel staff to help you get in touch with someone who owns a boat.

Furthermore, you can go scuba diving as you jump from island to island and see the marine life yourself. For sure, the kids would love this too. If you want to take things a bit further, you can go cliff diving at Ariel’s Point. You can jump from as low as the floating dock to as high as 13 meters.

Aside from these water activities, there’s also some that you can enjoy inland, such as the zipline, the Zorb or the ATV ride to get the adrenaline pumping.

Day 3 part 1: Unleash the foodie in you

There are so many restaurants here offering different kinds of cuisines so it’s just right that you take some time to try as much as you can. First of all, you must try Jonah’s Fruit Shakes & Snack Bar, which has a cult following from both local and international tourists.

Merly’s BBQ is another must-visit as it brags the original chori burger (chori short for chorizo). We can go on and on so it would be best to explore each restaurant. If you’d just rather have a hearty, delicious meal, you can simply eat in your hotel’s buffet restaurant (if it has one). For example, Alta Vista de Boracay’s very own L’altura restaurant.

Day 3 part 2: Party all night

Boracay is also known for its very busy nightlife. There are plenty of bars and clubs to choose from. We suggest that you find a bar crawl so you can try as many bars and alcoholic drinks as possible.

Day 4: Time for some R&R (retail therapy and relaxation)

All that swimming, exploring, and partying must have worn you out in a good way so have a relaxing third day with a good massage. You can call the front desk of your hotel and request for an in-room massage or drop by the nearest spa. If you’re staying at Alta Vista de Boracay, you can go to its indoor spa.

Just before you leave

After a soothing massage, you can head out to the nearest mall or shops along the beach to buy pasalubong or cool trinkets as a remembrance of your wonderful trip.
