Are you that type of traveler that can’t go on a trip without snacks? Don’t fret, we understand and we got you.

Whether you booked accommodations at Boracay or have an 18-hour connecting flight abroad, snacks are an essential thing. Some opt to purchase and eat unhealthy junk food or fast food meals en route their destinations whether they travel by land, sea or plane. But aren’t you tired of the unhealthy airport food? Why not take the extra mile and prepare some healthy on-the-go food for your next travel?

What food can you bring for flights?

When planning what snacks to bring on your trip, be mindful of the regulations implemented at airports. Generally, solid food such as bread, nuts, fresh fruits, salad, and even pizza are allowed inside airports and planes so long as you properly place them inside clear, sealed, spill-proof containers. However, when bringing liquid foods such as honey, salad dressings, salsa, bread spreads, condiments, jellies, and jams, be sure to follow the 3-1-1 liquids rule for hand-carry bags.

Essentially, this means that a traveler can carry up to six 3.4-ounce bottles of liquid as long as they are all kept inside a one zip-top bag. Because traveling by plane means being inside an air-sealed room, keep in mind your seatmates when planning your snacks. It is courtesy to avoid eating healthy but smelly food inside the plane.

Too lazy or too tired to think about what easy healthy snacks for adults and kids you can prepare? Don’t stress out. Here are ten healthy snacks you can take on-the-go when you travel.

1. Fresh or dried fruits

If you want to eat some hassle-free healthy snacks, you can bring an apple with you and eat it inside the airport or the plane when you feel like eating. As an option, you can chop fruits such as melon, honeydew, bananas, and throw in some berries in a clean container so you can munch them up while you are traveling. You can also opt to purchase organic dried fruits such as dried mangoes if that’s easier for you. Eating fruits en route to your travel destination will help satisfy your sweet cravings without the expense of consuming unhealthy sugars.

2. Cut up vegetables

Carrots, cucumbers, and celery are ideal vegetables you can cut and snack on. These vegetables are crunchy, tasty, and highly nutritious. They contain good sources of vitamins and minerals that contribute to your health and wellness. No need to feel guilty when munching on them as they have low cholesterol levels.

3. Home-made trail mix

True, you can purchase trail mix in the convenient store but those can be too oily, salty or sugary. Plus, making a DIY trail mix gives you the freedom to add your favorite ingredients and satisfy your sweet and salty cravings.

For example, you can mix raw hazelnuts, almonds, dried strawberries, cacao nibs, and peanut butter chips if you’re craving sweets. If salty’s what you want, you can mix granola, cashews, peanuts, pistachios, a pinch of sea salt, and raisins. Trail mixes are full of energy-dense ingredients, making it one of the best healthy snacks you can bring with you when you travel.
