Now that summer is officially over, you are probably thinking now is not the time to go to Boracay. But you know what, the beautiful island paradise is going to be less crowded, less busy, and less noisy this time of the year.
This means that if you’re planning to take your Significant Other (SO) somewhere, you can truly relax and enjoy each other’s company. Boracay, during the rainy season, is definitely your best bet. There will also be fun things to do at the beach for adults, especially for couples; a bit of rain wouldn’t be a problem.
Aside from being able to avoid the crowd during summer, hotel and resort rates are going to be at their lowest during off-peak seasons. This means you’ll get to enjoy a bit of privacy in one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, without having to spend as much, in contrast to when you go there during peak seasons.
And, oh, did we mention that the climate is going to be a lot cooler in Boracay this time of the year? Yup, thanks to the Habagat or the Southwest Monsoon, you’ll be able to enjoy a truly relaxing stroll at the beach with your SO, with the cool breeze blowing on your faces.
If you’re still not convinced that the rainy season is the best time to go to Boracay for couples, perhaps this Bora beach date checklist will change your mind. Here are some fun couple of things to do in Bora on rainy days:
What better way to jumpstart your romantic beach getaway than to treat yourselves with a full body treatment in a spa? You can have it done at the beach or indoors in a spa salon—either way, a relaxing full body massage with all the essential oils and rejuvenating products is going to be a great way to pamper yourself and your loved one. And because it’s the off-peak season, you might even be able to get a good price deal, which ranges from PhP350 to PhP500.
With so many Boracay restaurants and bars to choose from across the island, food and drinks will never be a problem—yes, even during the rainy season. Some of the restaurants worth mentioning are Smoke Resto located in D’Mall, which offers affordable meals without sacrificing taste. Bestsellers include Chilli Chicken with Eggplant and Beef Salpicao, both priced at PhP150; Tilapia ‘N Chips, which?—as the name suggests?—offers tasty fish ‘n chips (or fish ‘n rice, for that Pinoy twist). Price starts at PhP299; this comes with sides and a drink.
After having your fill of the best grubs in the island, you can head out to one of Bora’s top bars for a night of chatting with your partner over cocktails. If you and your SO are looking for a place that offers cheap drinks and a live acoustic performer, you can head out to Station 3 at Red Pirates. Or, if you want to spend the night simply whispering sweet nothings to your partner over drinks, head to the other side of the island at Spider House where the vibe is pretty laid back. Some of the bars that are also worth mentioning include Exit Bar, Nigi Nigi Nu Noos, and Aplaya Beach Bar which are also perfect for a romantic beach date.
Did you know that shopping is a great stress reliever, not to mention that it can actually lift a shopaholic’s mood in an instant! Yup, if your partner is a bit stressed out at work, Boracay is definitely the perfect place to unwind for anyone who loves shopping. The island paradise will always be a shopping haven even when it rains. If you’re up for a bit of retail therapy, take him or her by the hand and just head to the five shopping areas in the island--D’ Mall, E-mall, Talipapa Market, Plazoleta, and City Mall. These areas offer a variety of goods, including souvenirs and pasalubong as well as fashion and beach wears. You can also find restaurants, food stalls, and cafes in these shopping complexes; so that you’ll have a place to rest when the shopping gets too tiring.
Thanks to the Habagat, you’ll be able to enjoy kiteboarding and windsurfing in Boracay during the wet season. If you’re up for a bit of thrill, head on out to Bulabog Beach (via tricycle or on foot) which is on the other side of the island. Ask the locals how to get there, and they’ll gladly point you in the right direction. Bulabog Beach is the main area for exciting water sports activities. If this is your first time to engage in a water sport, no need to worry. The area is protected by an outer reef, which makes it safe even for beginners. The cost will be a bit steep, though, as prices start at PhP7000. This would include a 3-hour lesson per level, plus rental of the appropriate kite, board, lines and bar, harness and wetsuit, and life jacket.
Another popular water activity that you can do throughout the year (except during typhoons) is helmet diving. Through this sport, you’ll be able to see and experience being one with Bora’s underwater flora and fauna without even have to learn how to go scuba diving. Imagine you and your partner strolling leisurely underwater while holding each
other’s hands—how cool is that, huh? If you’re up for it, set aside PhP600 for each of you, and take your relationship to a whole new level—literally and figuratively!
A word of caution: if the rain and the wind are too strong, we strongly discourage you from doing these activities. Most of the time, though, it’s actually quite safe.
Aside from fun activities, you can do in the water, you can also enjoy the fun activities on land during the rainy season—that is, if you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. Imagine going off-roading on an All-Terrain Vehicle or ATV in different parts of the island while it’s raining—that’s definitely going to be a lot of fun, don’t you think? Definitely perfect for adventure seekers, right? There are many ATV rentals and tours offered everywhere on the island. Try it out with your partner, and enjoy a day of adventure getting mud stains while
exploring the wilderness of Boracay. Prices start at PhP1500/person for an hour of ATV fun!
If the rain and the wind get too strong, you can always stay in your hotel room and enjoy Boracay’s scenery from the balcony. You can order food and drinks from your hotel room and have a romantic dinner while in bed.
You can enjoy a queen-sized bed, balcony, and minibar at Alta Vista de Boracay’s Studio/Deluxe suite. As part of the off-season promo, Alta Vista de Boracay has room rates for as low as PhP2500. Hurry and book now! Booking period starts from May 23 to June 30, 2019. Stay period is from June 1 to June 30, 2019.
If you think about it, there are so many romantic things to do at the beach with your girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, or husband, even when it rains. It’s actually perfect for lovebirds since beaches aren’t usually crowded during the wet season. As they say, Boracay is Boracay, no matter the month of the year; and it will always be a great beach destination even during the rainy season.
